मोटर यान अधिनियम की धारा 160 — दुर्घटना में संलिप्त यान की विशिष्टियां प्रस्तुत करने का कर्तव्य —
रजिस्ट्रीकरण प्राधिकारी या पुलिस थाने का भारसाधक अधिकारी, यदि किसी ऐसे व्यक्ति द्वारा, जो यह अभिकथित करता है कि वह मोटर कार के उपयोग से उद्भूत दुर्घटना की बाबत प्रतिकर का दावा करने का हकदार है, ऐसा अपेक्षित किया जाए या बीमाकर्ता द्वारा जिसके विरुद्ध किसी मोटरयान की बाबत दावा किया गया है, ऐसा अपेक्षित किया जाए तो, यथास्थिति, उस व्यक्ति या उस बीमाकर्ता को, जैसा भी मामला हो, विहित फीस के संदाय पर, उक्त प्राधिकारी या उक्त पुलिस अधिकारी को यान के पहचान चिन्हों या अन्य विशिष्टियों और उस व्यक्ति, जो यान का उपयोग दुर्घटना के समय कर रहा था या उसके द्वारा क्षतिग्रस्त हुआ था का नाम और पता और संपत्ति, यदि कोई हो, जिसका नुकसान हुआ है, की सूचना ऐसे प्ररूप में और ऐसे समय के भीतर जो केंद्रीय सरकार द्वारा विहित किया जाए, देगा ।
160 MV Act — Duty to furnish particulars of vehicle involved in accident —
A registering authority or the officer-in-charge of a police station shall, if so required by a person who alleges that he is entitled to claim compensation in respect of an accident arising out of the use of a motor vehicle, or if so required by an insurer against whom a claim has been made in respect of any motor vehicle, furnish to that person or to that insurer, as the case may be, on payment of the prescribed fee, any information at the disposal of the said authority or the said police officer relating to the identification marks and other particulars of the vehicle and the name and address of the person who was using the vehicle at the time of the accident or was injured by it and the property, if any, damaged in such form and within such time as the Central Government may prescribe.
